Slow
Night and Shop Hop in
Midway
Midway Renaissance invites you
to participate in a unique celebration of the summer
solstice. Francisco's Farm Arts Festival has teamed up
with Slow Food Bluegrass, Honest Farm Market, and the
Midway Merchants Association to offer an evening of fun,
food, and shopping in this charming historic town.
On
Saturday, June 21st, after a delightful day
meeting artists on the campus of Midway College, bring
your friends downtown to visit our unique shops, dine in
our award-winning
restaurants* * *, and welcome the first day of
summer, which is also the
longest (and thus the slowest) day of the
year.
Beginning at 5:30 pm, at the
historic Thoroughbred Theatre on Main Street,
culinary and libation creations from local chefs,
farmers and producers will be available to purchase and
sample. The theater will show a selection of films from
the international Slow Food on Film festival, to be
followed by live bluegrass music. Participating food
vendors include Susie Quick of Honest Farm and
Honest Farm Market, Woodford Reserve Kentucky
Bourbon, Gelato Gilberto, Holly Hill Inn,
Kentucky
Bison Company, Eclipse Foods, Havana Beverage, Earth's
Promise Farm, Sara Gibbs of Culinary Innovations, and
All Natural Better Burgers.
Slow Food
Bluegrass is a food education
group dedicated to promoting growers and producers of
good, clean and fair food products throughout the
Bluegrass region. They make positive
contributions that will lead to the availabilty of
healthier food and a cleaner environment for this and
future generations of Kentuckians.
Honest
Farm is a nonprofit, sustainable farm whose mission is to raise community
awareness of holistic farming practices. They operate a
children's garden as well as a farm stand offering
fresh produce to residents and visitors to the Midway
area.

Honest Farm's founder, Susie Quick, is
the former food and nutrition editor for
the publications Real
Simple, Organic Style, Health, and Glamour. She also operates the Honest Farm 'Pure Kentucky' Market, a year-round
food store in downtown Midway, where she sells products
from Kentucky Farmers.
Watch Susie
Quick's Wellness Cooking 101 every Monday on LEX 18
News at 12:30, where she shares her favorite recipes and
provides tips to help you make healthier choices when
buying and cooking food.
Buying Kentucky
Proud is easy. Look for the label at your
grocery store, farmers' market, or roadside
stand.
When you buy Kentucky Proud, you're giving your family
the best. And you're helping your community by
keeping your food dollars at home.

week's newsletter when we'll return to our 'Meet the
