"Eve's Tree House"
water media on wood |
"I've made a green wooden tree house for Eve in her garden and painted scenes of goblins and foundlings at home in a frosty forest. My triptychs, diptychs, altars and assemblages are fashioned from wooden panels and found objects and lots of color. I sometimes apply a layer of plaster as a ground and add layers of pastel, paint, and wax for a fresco effect.
Some of my influences are illuminated medieval manuscripts, weathered icons, and primitive altarpieces. I once worked as an art teacher in a residential mental health facility where I learned that uninhibited improvising can yield elegant results."
You'll find Cynthia in Booth #119 at the Festival, and her work will also be on display in Francisco's Gallery inside the Anne Hart Raymond Center. An annual themed exhibition, this year's Gallery showcases artists who create using found objects and recycled/re-purposed materials. "Art Goes Green", sponsored by Woodford Reserve, features the work of more than twenty of our festival exhibitors along with a select group of non-exhibiting artists.
Visit the Gallery to see how artists have put their imaginations and skills to work using animal bones, piano keys, books, tractor gears, deconstructed sweaters, old silver-plate, and much more. From jewelry to sculpture and clothing to wall art, you'll be inspired by their creativity.
In fact, we hope to inspire you to participate in our Public Art Project, just outside the Gallery. This year citizensCREATE! will again guide our 100% passer-by created artworks, establishing the Community as Artist. Experience the creative magic that occurs when a community of former strangers works together to produce a work of art.
Bluegrass Community Hospital has joined our family of sponsors to support this project, in celebration of the knowledge that creative outlets enhance our health.
Bring your friends and family to Francisco's Farm and join us in celebrating the arts.
